Svaha Sound Records is an independent record label dedicated to spreading conscious vibes and fostering global unity through the universal language of music. Established in 2013, our mission transcends mere music production; it is a spiritual journey aimed at promoting social change, healing, and mindfulness in a world often consumed by division. We believe in music as a powerful vehicle for change and a force for re-defining old-world traditions, operating under the mantra of "so be it" – embracing the natural flow of conscious sound.

The name "Svaha" is a Sanskrit word often used in Hindu rituals, typically translated as "so be it" or "hail to." This name perfectly encapsulates our philosophy: to strip away overcomplication and allow the music to simply be. Our sound is a unique fusion, blending the ancient cultures of Hinduism and Rastafarianism with the cutting-edge rhythms of modern dub, roots, and steppa styles.

This distinct spiritual foundation, drawing inspiration from ancient sounds and mantra chanting, drives our artistic direction. We are dedicated to filling a void we observed in the UK conscious music scene, pushing the boundaries of traditional reggae to incorporate future dub, hip-hop, drum and bass, and jungle influences.

Svaha Sound Records was founded in High Wycombe, UK, with the primary goal of providing a vital platform for unsigned artists in the burgeoning dub and reggae scenes. The label emerged from the deep musical education of its founders, who were heavily influenced by iconic sound systems like Jah Shaka, King Earthquake, and Aba Shanti throughout the late 1990s.

This foundation in sound system culture, coupled with exposure to a wide array of musical genres, shaped our vision. Today, while our roots remain in the UK, the label’s core members operate internationally across the UK, Canada, France, and Australia. This global presence allows us to stay at the very pulse of the international dub scene, exploring and sharing musical "gems" from every corner of the world.

Beyond the records, the spirit of Svaha lives on through the physical Svaha Sound System in Victoria, Australia, which keeps the sound system culture alive in collaboration with Tom Tom Sound Melbourne.
